Italiano: Francesco Albani, cavaliere aurato e pater patriae, fu il padre del futuro cardinale Giovanni Gerolamo Albani (1509-1591). Fu Francesco Albani a chiamare a Bergamo nel 1517 il pittore Giovanni Cariani che lo ritrasse in abito di "cavaliere aurato", lo stesso che indossò nel 1516 quando fu a capo della ambascerìa incaricata di negoziare la definitiva acquisizione di Bergamo ai dominii della Serenissima.
